The Law of Attraction31 Jul

I get such a kick out of people who are so engrossed in the Law of Attraction that the sun likely shines out their bums! But I’m completed amazed at the number of people I’ve heard saying that Law of Attraction doesn’t require work!

HOOEY!

Yes, positive energy attracts positive energy. But sitting around in your sweatpants face deep into a bowl of Cheetos thinking happy thoughts isn’t going to get you anything but a big butt!

You will get back what you give to the Universe, but you need to work to make good things happen.

You need to step outside your comfort zone and do something that terrifies you. You need to make a plan to [INSERT INTENTION HERE] - for me that would be making my Virtual Assistant practice more successful - and then do the hard work to make it happen - keeping a positive frame of mind is only a part of it!

Don’t forget - make sure you are doing the ACTION part of Law of Attraction!

National Do Not Call Registry in Canada30 Jul

Hurray!

Finally a bit more bite to the National Do Not Call Registry.

I’m not a fan of telemarketer’s at all, and each time I’m contacted I asked to be removed from the list. Some companies comply right away, others do not and still others hang up as soon as I start to ask.

Effective 30 September 08, Canadians can register for the new National Do Not Call Registry at http://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/

Companies will have 31 days to comply and after that will face a fine of up to $1500 for an individual or $15 000 for a company who does not comply!

Your registration will last for 3 years and you can register your landline, cell phone or fax number.

HOWEVER, as with all Govt initiatives, there are gigantic loopholes.

“Charities, political parties, polling firms, newspapers and companies that have done business with an individual over the past 18 months can continue to make unsolicited phone calls. Canadians who do not wish to receive such calls can ask at the time of a call to be removed from the organization’s list, or contact them ahead of time and request the same.” [from CBC.ca]

Trying too hard to be Cuil?29 Jul

So one of the Google geniuses created a new search engine called “Cuil”

Unfortunately, it was a bust right out of the gate.

Now, I’m not qualified to discuss the technical aspects of it, so I’ll leave that in the capable hands of TechCrunch.

But what I can tell you is Cuil was causing fury out of the box. A few other tech savvy VA’s took Cuil for a spin, and when they punched in their search parameters, the pics showing up with the descriptions had nothing to do with the results - VA sites with pictures of the competition or nothing remotely related, inaccurate info and so on.

Time will tell, but I’m thinking this one won’t last long.

Simple Trick to Help Tame Your Inbox28 Jul

I get scads and scads of email each day, so I had to find a way to tame the inbox. So I created my own little management system.

I created a folder in my inbox called Clients.

Under that, I have a folder for each client and a corresponding message filter that sends email from each client into their box.

Under each client box, I have a folder called Completed Tasks.

Once I finish a task, I move the corresponding message to the Completed Tasks box. That way the only things in the clients folder are ongoing tasks or projects currently under way and it helps me keep on top of things :)
